Bougainvillea or Bugambilia is a plant native to South America. It is a climbing bush. In Cuba it can be found covering walls, roofs, home entrances, fences and at gardens. The name comes from Louis Antoine de Bougainville, an admiral in the French Navy who discovered the plant in 1768.

Coloured leaves or bracks surround the real flower which is generally white and quite small. Bougainvillea flower all year in warm climates and do not need any special care. They are thorny, woody, vines.

The white, yellow and pink coloured ones are the most delicates while fuchsia and red are the most robust
